Airport Drama!

I think we all know that when we fly on any airplanes are sometimes are taking risks with our lives and our pocessions we are traveling with. Of course we all know the famous story from my Honeymoon. We overslept the day of our flight, rushed to the airport, got on another flight only to have that flight delayed resulting in us missing our second plane of the day! The honeymoon wasn't start off with a kick wasn't it? We ended up in Miami nine hours later that projected. They had given away our room, and were going to try and downsize us to a double queen bed. Hello.... honeymoon anyone?? Who sleeps in seperate beds on their honeymoon!

Well the trip went more of the same. We missed another flight on the way home. We were so delayed in waiting due to the pilots being late getting there that by the time we ran to the terminate and gate ...the place was still there and attached but they had given away our seats!!!!! HELLO IT'S OUR HONEYMOON CAN WE NOT CATCH A BREAK. Well to make a long story short we did get home but once we got home we didn't have our luggage show up for an extra day!

Well since that experience we'd tried to keep away from flighting until last week when Keri went home to visit his parents. He got to Florida and went out and bougth himself a wii. He had been looking everywhere for one in Utah and they were always sold out. He was pretty happy to found on! Welll the day came for him to come home and we meet him at the airport. He jokingly says.. i HOPE MY WII MADE IT.... so he goes digging in his luggage.. and turns out his wii is ineed STOLEN!!! One of the TSA workers stole it while going over his baggage!! Can you believe they'd walk away with a wii??? Like someone wouldn't notice it?! So not only that Keri had bought gamse online through the wii so his credit card information was stored in the wii.. so he had to call and cancel his carrd. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Well it doesn't end there...

The very next night we are back at the airtport to pick up my sister Kelly. Ker decided to do the express check in where you swipe a credit card instead of worrying about paying with cash. Well that was pretty slick until he realized he had swiped the card he had reported stolen the night before due to his stolen wii!! What a messs.. so we had to sit and wait while Fatuma figured out what to do. I mean it as a $2 deal. I thought we'd just pay and be on our way.. oh no, Keri had to give her his address, phone number, license plate numbre.. i swear they were about to draw some blood.... it was such the ordeal!!!!!!

In short-- be very caustious when flying. Don't put anything valuable into the suitcase you leave for them to board. And never use a stolen credit card or Fatuma might keep you all night!!!

Bear Lake or Bust.. literally

Ahh memorial weekend .. it usually means one thing and one thing only... time to head to Bear Lake with the Thatchers. We'd been doing this tradition for quite a few years now. Each year we usually lose someone to a mission (from the Thatcher family) and this year we were missing my scrumptious husband. Of all the weekends to fly home he picked memorial weekend. Well I was sad but was ready for fun just the same!

Friday I headed up a little after the family. Since Keri had been gone, I had my friend Steph staying with me, so she met him after work to get her stuff. Around 6pm I was on the open road to the cabin. Everyone left hours before me and I ended up pulling up to the cabin only minutes after them! What can I say.. I don't like to waste time on the open road. The cabin is about 2 1/2 hours from where we all live. I usually make it in under 2 hours. Of course everyone is usually car sick after driving with me through the canyons... but my car likes to take the sharp curves fast!! What can I say..

So we got there and that's when the fun started. We were unpacking and someone went downstairs to find..... a lake in the cabin!!!! Our pipes had burst!!!!! There was water everywhere downstairs and it was kinda deep!! Well the hits just kept on rolling.... next we found out there was no propane... which meant even if we had water it would be freezing cold! So there we were with no water, no propane.. and now this is the kicker... sit down for this one...

So mom wanders out on our deck and is admiring the the gorgeous scenery when she spies.... A DEAD DEER!!!!!!! Yes there was a dead deer RIGHT outside our cabin. It's head was actually leaning against the side of the cabin wall. It was SOOO sad! Okay lets recap, no water... no propane, and a poor dead rotting deer outside the door!!!! It had been there for a while and there was ALL SORTS of bugs/flies all over the place.

Well we made a few calls and Big Al and Dad started on the pipes. Dad called Angie to tell her about it and thats when she confessed she had left the propane run all winter. Terrifying. She promised that her and Bill woud come up in the morning and help fix the pipes. Apparently Uncle Bill is sort of a plumbing genius! Well that night was interesting, everytime we had to go to the bathroom we had to drive down to the clubhouse or the KOA.

Saturday we woke up and this guy came to haul off the deer. Poor guy. Then Ang and Bill made it to help with the pipes. In the meantime I had to hit the clubhouse to shower. This cabin trip was turning into be more like a camping trip than anything. Everytime you opened up the door flies would be everywhere. It was gross. Well after a few hours Bill had fixed the pipes so we had water, just not hot water. You know you always take hot water for granted until you don't have any...

Well we ended up having a ball. Shaun, Mom, and I had to sleep in the same bed to keep warm at night. Let me tell you, I should win an award for sleeping in the middle of them. Not only was I squished, they SNORED. It was truly hideous!!!! But the trip ended up being great. Lots of food, lots of games, lots of movies and TONS of laughter! This will be a cabin trip for the history books!!

My Baby Turns 23....

So my husband was FINALLY turning 23 so I thought no better way to celebrate than to do a surprise birthday party. After I hatched the idea, I had to come up with the guest list. Naturally I knew exactly who needed to be there on this fine occassion. All my best friends!! I invited Jerrilynn and Justin (and their adorable kids), Aubrey and Mike (and their ad-orable kids), Stephie, and Shaun's friend Justin. For once everyone could come so I was super excited. I went to work planning everything and by the day of the party I had everything in place.

I had a bridal shower for my cousin Mandy in the morning, then Stephie came over to help me decorate my parents backyard. (Thank heavens they let us come over and use their awesome backyard!!) Well I had ordered the worlds BEST cake on Thursday and told them I needed it ready by Saturday at four. So imagine my dismay when they called me at 1:30 to tell me it wouldn't be ready by 2pm. Well I wasn't overly concerned because they party wasn't until 4pm but I was a little annoyed. This cake was quite the expensive cake, so I was expecting things to go smoothly. Anyway, we finish decorating, and Jerrilynn calls about 3:30pm to say they are coming over a little early. So they arrive and still I have no cake. I call them and they say its still not ready! Well now I'm started to get upset.
So I call Keri and make up some phony excuse that my parents wanted him to come over for dinner (mind you he has no idea about anything) and then he tells me he isn't feeling well and he wants to STAY HOME. I'm like ... WHAT?! So I'm like, they really want you to come over and he's all I just want to stay in bed. So I have no cake, and now I have no husband for his own surprise birthday party. I'm thinking, things couldn't get worse. So I finally ended up being like you're coming and thats that. LUCKILY he was like ok. But he was NOT happy at all.
So I rush to get the cake and I get there and am STILL WAITING. Waiting... waiting... waiting... it's past 4pm and I'm still waiting. Seriously this is beyond a joke at this point. Who orders a cake on Thursday and has a cake over 2 hours late on the day they need it? Well it turned out by the time I got home, Keri had already arrived. So much for that surprise. I was pretty upset by this point. It seemed like nothing was going right and to make matters worse everyone seemed to be adding to my frustration and making me crankier by the moment. Luckily things got better. Aubs and Mike arrived and everyone was there. We threw the football for a while and then ate. Dad was nice enough to bbq hamburgers for everyone!! We had a great time eating and chatting. After the grub came a serious game of croquet!!! We played with a partner and Keri and I were the first ones to finish the course and turn poison. In the end it came down to Jerrilynn/Justin and Keri and I and Jer and Justin beat us. Those rats!!
We ended the night with a little more football. I HAVE to give a shoutout out to Mike Fowler. That guy is awesome. I've never seen a football fly through the air so fast. He even bruised my arm. He is truly an amazing athlete. I was super impressed with him. Justin equally impressed me as he was calmly able to catch those bullet passes.
Well by 8pm everyone was going home and I was tired from my LOOOOOONG day. It was all worth it though. I love having a successful party and AMAZING friends.

Suddenly I found myself hooked up to an I.V.

Well it must have been quite the weekend cause it ended up with me hooked up to an I.V.!!

Saturday Keri decided we should try out the new Front Runner Train they just got up and running for this area. You can hope on the train and it takes you right to salt lake. Our game plan was to hop on the front runner to the Gateway. See a movie, spend some of Keri's money, and then hop on the train home.

Well it turns out the front runner should be renamed the slow creeper or the front walker. It went SOOOOO slow. I mean I think I could walk faster than it went. It literally creeped along. That TLC song "Creep" came to mind. Anyway.. so there we are on the train with a crying baby to my right and three siblings in front of us all crammed into a two person seat. I looked around and thought maybe I won't be doing this again. Anyway we got to Salt Lake and after a quite 2 block walk through gangsta town, we arrived at the Gateway. Let the shopping begin!!! We shopped at a few of MY favorite stores before going to see the movie "Made of Honor". The movie was SOOO good. I highly recommend it!! After the movie we did more shopping and it was off to the slow creeper to go home.

Well I had been feeling sick all (nauseaus and light headed) so on our way home I made Keri stop and get a pregnancy test. I was CERTAIN the sick-to-my-stomach feeling = baby on board. Well turns out I was wrong. It immediately went to negative. Well Sunday I woke up feeling even worse. When I opened my eyes to do something I felt very faint, when I closed my eyes my head was spinning. I was very nauseaus. It was pretty bad. I was in bed all day and around 1pm Keri was like.. do you need to go to the doctor? I said no and he said.. do you need to go to the doctor and you just don't want to? How cute!! I have a cute husband! Needless to say minutes later (yes I had a quick shower) we were sitting in the IHC insta care waiting area. We saw the doctor and man I was feeling awful. I was very nauseaus. I was EXTREMELY light headed/dizzy/feel like I'm going to faint. I had a migrane all that just made me feel like I was dying. Well the doctor told me my extreme light headedness sounded like dehydration. I tried to aruge with him that it wasn't.. but perhaps it was. I had been sick all Saturday. The details aren't important but I did lose a lot of fluids. Well with everything I told him I wound up with an I.V. for my dehydration and morphine with some stuff to take my nausea away.

When the nurse was first setting me up, I informed her I get heart burn EASY with drugs like morphine. Especially if I haven't eaten a lot that day. Which I hadn't since I'd been in bed all day. Well she kinda brushed that aside and SURE ENOUGH about twenty five minutes into it... HEART BURN CITY. I don't know if any of you have had heart burn, but whenever I get it, its so bad I end up passing out. Not even kidding. I wind up walking up on the floor. Well the heart burn was INTENSE, worse than everything else. So what does the nurse do? GIVE ME MORE MORPHINE. I'm like... wait.. that's what caused the heart burn, sure enough.... more heart burn. Truly it felt like I was dying!!!!!!!!!

Well anway about two hours later the IV was gone and I was feeling better (minus the heart burn which kept hitting me.) We left, got me some food and eventually the heart burn went away.

What a crazy weekend.
